Introducing Messy Masterpieces at Building Hope!
Not everyone can put their feelings into words. Sometimes healing happens through a paintbrush, a pencil, a splash of color, or a little creative chaos.
We're excited to begin Messy Masterpieces at Building Hope, a creative space where people can connect, create, express themselves, and discover that perfection isn't required to make something beautiful. But we need your HELP! To make this group successful and sustainable, we're looking for donations of art supplies and support from our amazing community. Items such as paint, brushes, canvases, sketchbooks, colored pencils, markers, clay, crafting supplies, and other creative materials would help make this opportunity available to everyone.
Recovery, healing, and connection come in many forms. Sometimes they look like a conversation over coffee. Sometimes they look like a guitar in the Harmony Project. And sometimes they look like paint on your hands and a masterpiece you never expected to create.
If you’d like to donate supplies, teach a skill, or help support this new group, we’d love to hear from you.
At Building Hope, we believe every person has value, every story matters, and every masterpiece starts with a blank canvas!

To bring Messy Masterpieces to life, we need our community’s hands and hearts! Our goal is to keep this creative space 100% free and accessible to everyone navigating recovery. You can help us reach this milestone by donating new or gently used art supplies—like acrylic paints, brushes, canvases, sketchbooks, and clay—or by contributing financially to help us purchase bulk materials. Every single donation directly builds a safe space where healing happens through creative expression.

Building Hope Inc. is dedicated to fostering hope, and recovery in our community by providing comprehensive resources for substance use disorders (SUD) and co-occurring mental health (MH) conditions. We understand that the path to wellness often involves navigating both, and we are here to support the whole person.
Our mission is to empower individuals and families affected by addiction, guiding them toward a path of lasting recovery and overall well-being.

"Connection is the opposite of addiction." As a peer-led community in Prairie du Chien, our goal is to provide a safe, stigma-free environment where individuals navigating substance use disorders (SUD) and co-occurring mental health (MH) conditions can find authentic support.

Connection as a Cure: We believe connection is the opposite of addiction and prioritize building a supportive community to end isolation.
Lived Experience: Our services are led by Peer Support Specialists who use their own recovery journeys to provide authentic, non-judgmental mentorship.
All-Inclusive Pathways: We respect that there is no "one size fits all" approach and support all paths to wellness, including 12-step, MAT, and All-Recovery.
Harm Reduction & Safety: We are committed to immediate community safety by providing free, no-barrier access to life-saving tools like Narcan.
Stigma-Free Empowerment: We provide a safe space to be honest about the "messy parts" of both mental health and substance use.

Building Hope provides opportunities for individuals to get involved through specialized training. These programs are designed for those who want to use their lived experience to help others:
Drop-in centers typically host events to foster a sense of belonging and reduce isolation:

Building Hope is launching a new peer-led fitness group. Stop by the center to meet your new accountability partners. From walks to workouts, let’s build strength in our bodies and our community together.
Please reach us at buildinghopepdc@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
It’s a safe, drug-and-alcohol-free community space. Unlike a clinical facility or a doctor’s office, we focus on social connection and peer-to-peer support. You can come here to meet people who understand your journey, attend a meeting, or simply relax in a non-judgmental environment.
Absolutely. We recognize that Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) and other substance use often go hand-in-hand with mental health conditions (co-occurring disorders). Our peer-led environment is designed to support you through the "messy parts" of both, offering a safe space where you can be honest about your mental wellness and your recovery journey simultaneously.
Our only requirement is that you are not currently under the influence while on-site. We welcome individuals at every stage—whether you are curious about recovery, in early sobriety, or have years of sustained wellness.
Healing happens together. Feel free to drop in during our open hours to find a safe space and a supportive ear.
